Prof. Dr. François Höpflinger, born 1948, married, 2 adult chil­dren, 4 grand­chil­dren, studied soci­ology and social psychology at the Univer­sity of Zurich. From 1994 Titular Professor of Soci­ology at the Univer­sity of Zurich. 1991 to 1998 programme manager of the National Research Programme 32 Alter/Vieillesse/Anziani’. 1999 to 2008 Research Director at the Univer­sity Insti­tute ‘Age and Gener­a­tions’, Sion. From 2009 inde­pen­dent research and consulting activity on age and gener­a­tion issues Current research projects: Housing in old age, changes in ageing, social report 2016 on well-being in Switzer­land. 2013 Honorary member­ship of the Swiss Society of Geron­tology, laureate 2013 of the Dr. J.E. Bran­den­berger Foun­da­tion in recog­ni­tion of activ­i­ties in the field of geron­tology and gener­a­tional research, laureate 2023 of the Erich Walser Gener­a­tion Prize.
