François Höpflinger, Prof. Dr., sociologist, member of the Steering Committee of the Center for Gerontology at the University of Zurich.
Prof. Dr. François Höpflinger, born 1948, married, 2 adult children, 4 grandchildren, studied sociology and social psychology at the University of Zurich. From 1994 Titular Professor of Sociology at the University of Zurich. 1991 to 1998 programme manager of the National Research Programme 32 Alter/Vieillesse/Anziani’. 1999 to 2008 Research Director at the University Institute ‘Age and Generations’, Sion. From 2009 independent research and consulting activity on age and generation issues Current research projects: Housing in old age, changes in ageing, social report 2016 on well-being in Switzerland. 2013 Honorary membership of the Swiss Society of Gerontology, laureate 2013 of the Dr. J.E. Brandenberger Foundation in recognition of activities in the field of gerontology and generational research, laureate 2023 of the Erich Walser Generation Prize.
