Nominee | Young Professionals – RADO Star Prize | 2017
PSYCHO SLUT WICCA BITCH. We are not angry, just self-reliant.

This fashion collection by designer Xénia Lucie Laffely, developed during her master's degree course, is a men's fashion inspired by the work or clothing style of well-known and strong female artists and designed according to the principle of collage. The references range from works of art such as garments by Tracy Enim and Simone de Beauvoir to Louise Bourgeois and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Of central importance to the collection are the specially hand-developed fabric designs, which have been realised as textile prints using sustainable raw materials. They have a strong narrative and communicative character and give the garments a unique character. The collection wants to be read as a statement for gender equality and a feminist manifesto. It is uncompromising fashion for men who want to wear women's clothes with pride and self-confidence and mix them confidently with their own pieces.
Comments of the nominators
An intelligent, cleanly designed menswear collection with an experimental character. The project, based on a playful, refreshingly original concept, convinces with its independent creative vision. It combines in-depth research with humorous storytelling and develops a feminist narrative of powerful imagery.
