Take a Second Look
These print designs are all drawn or painted by hand. They are distinguished by an exceedingly rich formal idiom which reflects the personal graphic world of the designer herself. With their often powerful choice of colour, these pictorial inventions are packed with emotions and associations, full of symbols and sometimes include playfully intimate allusions. To create these designs – which are objective and graphically abstract by turns – the designer has drawn on many sources. She makes use of classical ornamentation as well as comic book motifs, and draws inspiration from modern / contemporary art and Japanese woodcuts alike.
Comments of the nominators
These designs, in which the interior world of the designer is turned to the outside world as it were, are beautifully decadent, baroque explosions, kafkaesque nightmares and anxiety-inspiring kitsch.
