fold‑x Garderobensystem

2005_fold_x_

Fold-x is a freestanding wardrobe system, specially designed to be suitable for temporary use. It is portable and can be folded up, so that when it is not being used it takes up a minimum of space when stored. The basic module of fold-x consists of two high right-angled wooden frames which fit into one another and can be rotated in storage. Their being placed at an angle of 45 degrees to one another gives them added stability. If several of these modules are linked together with hinges, the standing wardrobe system can unfold in a scissor-like manner.

Comments of the nominators

An original solution for a problem to which little regard has been paid in the past. The design is characterised by the reinterpretation of a tried and tested constructive principle and has much potential for further development.
