the man who flew into spaceA252 from his apartment Modekollektion für Frauen

2005_the_man_who_flew_into_space_

The name of the collection has been borrowed from an installation of the artist Ilya Kabakov, which takes as its theme a violent movement that plunges out into the infinite. This was what gave the designer her inspiration. Another thing that inspired her, she tells us, was the phenomenon of the Northern Lights. The clothes are conspicuously widely cut, and attain their form – which is designed to express movement and dynamism – through darning (minute and intensive sewing). The colours of the threads used allude to the Northern Lights, and help to support the dynamic visual appearance. The minutely sewn parts function as an ornamental element, and lend the garments their special texture.

Comments of the nominators

An innovative collectiion, noteworthy not least for its craftsmanship, which with its economy of ornament and ultra-contemporary formal design is very appealing.
