Behind lineto.com is a loose network of some 20 graphic designers, coming from Europe, the USA and Japan. The website is designed to be a platform of ideas for typesetting and graphic design. It presents the typesetting projects of the designers taking part, and shows their individual work in context. Essentially the site is intended, through the online presentation of different typefaces, to develop new possibilities that do justice to the medium. So for example instead of the usual dummy text, type is shown using «real» texts that have either been written by the user in person, or have been drawn from the constantly growing depository of source material to be found on the Internet.
