Textildesign am Bau Textildesign am Bau
The aim: to fit out a large office at the Jacob Burckhardt House Basel with acoustic hanging partitions. The basic fabric is sound-absorbent, consisting of anti-inflammatory Trevira CS. Its simple check patterning is a gesture towards the rational architecture of the building. The realisation of the outsized plant motifs was a major technical achievement. With their giant size, the embroidered motifs have an almost surreal effect, and introduce a fairystory element into the otherwise understated world of the office.
Comments of the nominators
An ingenious basic idea, technical innovation and the quality of the effect produced make this project a conspicuously successful example of textile design for buildings.
