The design of the new low-floor express multiple-unit train (NExT) of Regionalverkehr Bern-Solothurn (RBS) – Regional Transport Berne-Solothurn – is consistently aimed at user-friendliness and quality of the working space. Generous spatial dimensions, a clear and unassuming formal idiom and numerous useful solutions on the level of detail all contribute to making a trip in this local transport train as pleasant an experience as possible. The large size of the windows gives the compartment a bright and friendly atmosphere, while at the same time offering panoramic views. The large front plate lends the train elegance, but consciously avoids making a pseudodynamic impression – which in view of the moderate peak speeds of a regional train would have been out of place.
