Pneumatische Komfortsysteme
These air-filled seat cushions have been developed for use in aeroplanes, where they replace the traditional foam material upholstery. As you can adjust the hardness or softness to your individual convenience, they offer a hitherto unheard-of degree of comfort. This is based on a powerful but quiet pump, as well as valves with ultra-sensitive sensors which regulate the air pressure in each chamber. These innovative blow-up cushions are the result of eight years of development. They have been in use in the Business and First Class of SWISS Airlines since the spring of 2009. Their other advantages include their low weight, long service life and improved safety and hygiene features.
Comments of the nominators
An innovative development in a field that is very demanding in view of the safety technology aspects involved. This trailblazing platform technology allows for a wide variety of uses, and so leaves free latitude for further design developments.
