p0 (planeten)

2009_p0_planeten_

The “p0” is a newly developed tripod head which differs from any previously known devices of this type, both in technical and in visual terms. One of the crucial features of the “p0” is that it does not have a locking button. The design incorporates a ring, coupled to three gear modules which are arranged around the ball like planets. When this is turned, a massive synchronous force arises which locks the camera in place. The non-spherical ball in the interior of the mechanism prevents the photographic equipment breaking open, with the help of friction under the influence of gravity. The integrated panoramic facility supports perfect panoramic panning. The light and compact tripod head can be operated by left-handed and right-handed persons without distinction.

Comments of the nominators

This is an ingenious, consistently realised design approach which generates considerable added value in functional terms. The formal design is notable for its unornamented precision and close attention to detail.
