The HydrogenCooker, developed as a pilot project in Cameroon, replaces polluting fuels with solar-generated hydrogen, emitting only water vapor. Based on field research with local families and workshops, it was created as a diploma project at ECAL in collaboration with EPFL and Softpower. Its robust, modular design ensures safety, mobility, and compatibility with existing kitchen furniture. Locally manufacturable from laser-cut sheet metal, it is easy to maintain, durable, and distributed as a rental service, empowering communities with sustainable cooking solutions.
