Step Zero: Biodegradable Shoe Soles

01_Cover_DPS_E25_Circular_StepZero_VotingPhoto_1_edit

Microplastics often begin beneath our feet: around 170 g per person enter soils and waters each year through shoe abrasion. Step Zero addresses this by developing sole materials that biologically decompose at the end of their life cycle. Without changes in production, it meets upcoming EU regulations and offers TPU-like performance. Sustainability thus becomes second nature – a tangible solution for how circularity can succeed even in the footwear industry.
