Bonjour Toolbox

Bonjour is a non-profit, Basel-based foundation that promotes social cohesion and is primarily committed to helping elderly people or those in need of assistance lead independent and self-determined lives. To this end, the organization initiates, develops and disseminates, among other things, various technology applications that are summarized in the Toolbox. These are apps that are emphatically easy to use and serve to build interpersonal relationships on the one hand and help people cope with everyday life on the other. For example, the app NotAlone helps people build small, efficient teams that support everyday life and encourage regular communication. The app Bloom, on the other hand, is a digital questionnaire for self-assessment. It shows you how well you have your life under control and where there is room for improvement, if any. In this case, the motivational app Grow is a good choice, as it encourages you in a playful way to set goals that enrich your life and strengthen your individual well-being. All of Bonjour’s apps and applications want to be understood as a work in progress. Whoever has ideas and a desire to collaborate is invited to further develop the opensource software.

Comments of the nominators

Loneliness in old age is – in particular during and after the Covid 19 pandemic – a major social problem. The apps and digital applications offered in the Bonjour toolbox are deliberately low-threshold and aim to promote the everyday social contacts of older people – a convincing combination of digital technology and socio-gerontological knowledge.
