swiss air – Safety never felt so comfortable

swiss air is the name of a respiratory protection system produced by the Swiss company Optrel that provides users in pollutant-rich environments with clean breathing air. The system, which was completely redesigned in just two years by an interdisciplinary team, consists of a ventilated half-mask made of fire-resistant material that completely covers the mouth and nose area, a high-performance TH3-certified filter unit, a blower unit with a high-performance rechargeable battery and a control panel. The filter, blower and battery are combined in a compact, low-profile housing that is worn on the back by means of a shoulder strap. Fresh air is supplied to the mask, which can also be used with a helmet, through a Y-shaped hose from behind. A slight overpressure in the mask facilitates breathing and thus prevents rapid fatigue. swiss air can be used in many work contexts but is particularly suitable for activities in confined spaces where, such as welding work in a shipyard, it is also necessary to work in different postures.

Comments of the nominators

Previous respiratory protection systems were always heavy, inflexible, and often tied to a specific helmet. In this respect, the swiss air system marks a real leap forward in quality. It looks extremely well thought-out in all parts and convinces with its wearing comfort, light weight, simple operation, and its versatile application options.
