Circle Jacket by Neumühle
The Circle Jacket by Neumühle is a winter jacket designed strictly according to the principles of the circular economy. The focus was on the idea of recycling. To make this possible, all components of the jacket produced and distributed by the young Swiss clothing brand Neumühle are made of mono-materials. They are joined together in such a way that the garment can be disassembled back into its components at the end of its life cycle. With a special takeback program that comes with a 20% discount on a new product, the brand underlines how seriously it takes the idea of recycling. This encourages the return of materials to the cycle while creating a brand experience. To minimize the Circle Jacket’s ecological footprint, only materials that are either of biological origin or have already been recycled once are used. In addition, all materials are sourced from European production and come from a maximum distance of 400 kilometres. The jacket itself is sewn in Switzerland, which is also where the five-year free repair service that comes with the purchase of the Circle Jacket takes place.
Comments of the nominators
The Circle Jacket is based on a strong, holistic circular concept that meets all three principles of the Circular Economy for Fashion. The intended longevity of the jacket, which is expressed not least in its emphatically simple design, is supported by the free repair service. A takeback program lends additional weight to the circular economy idea.
