Lernwabe Karton als Bausatz
Lernwabe is a modular spatial structure, which can be made of cardboard or wood. With its help, small-sized places of retreat can be created in a larger spatial context. Developed jointly by an architect and a teacher, it is primarily intended for use in schools, day-care centres, or even public libraries. Thanks to their hexagonal shape, Lernwabe can be stacked vertically. This permits space-saving and efficient expansion of the room. The individual honeycombs are dimensioned to convey a feeling of privacy, security and tranquillity. They are ideal for concentrated learning as well as for playing or relaxing. The different sitting positions and postures that can be adopted in them are also physiologically beneficial. The cardboard honeycombs are offered as a kit. Later users can assemble them themselves under guidance and individualize them with textiles, wallpaper, or paints.
Comments of the nominators
The desire for a place of retreat that can serve both contemplation and concentrated work has long been fulfilled in the modern office world by corresponding offers. In this respect, the idea of also offering children such a space at the school workplace was actually overdue. Lernwabe convinces with its functionality and its amazingly stable construction.
