MATCH Slate

Solar roofs also offer private individuals the opportunity to participate in sustainable energy production and thus contribute to climate protection. Traditionally, the solar modules are installed above the actual roof covering – which, from a purely visual point of view, does not contribute to the beautification of the house. In order to circumvent this hurdle, which exists in particular in listed buildings, the Swiss solar module manufacturer Megasol developed MATCH Slate, a solution in which the solar panel and roof covering are combined in one element. Inspired by the natural stone roofs common in the rural Alpine region, the module panels of Match Slate thereby borrow the look of slate stones. Technically, the panels are glass-glass modules with the solar cells sandwiched between protective layers of glass. The Match Slate modules are laid out on conventional roof battens and anchored with special hooks. They offer full weather protection and a service life of more than 50 years.

Comments of the nominators

A remarkable product development that is expected to drive the adoption and proliferation of rooftop solar. At the same time, Match Slate’s design strengthens the company’s market position in the highly competitive solar panel market.
