Chaussures Experimente am Fuss

2003_Chaussures_

The interaction between the individual’s shoe, foot, walk and posture is analysed here, leading to solutions that are rich in contrasts. An answer is supplied to the question how much support the foot needs, and just where it needs to be supported. With summer shoes, for example, just a strip of leather around the toes suffices. The rough leather sole of the winter boots, which are made of buckskin and have the softness of gloves, is held to the foot with robust leather bands. The high heels seem massive, in spite of the delicate points of the boots, and encourage a soft, rolling and swaying manner of walking.

Comments of the nominators

Amongst other factors, it is experimentally worth evaluating the fact that ambitious targets have been realised by this project on an exceedingly modest budget and in very short order.
