Pixelstick «… vom Gobelin zur computergestalteten Stickerei»

Quite unlike traditional embroidery patterns, here photos and graphics are translated for industrial embroidery, with the help of digital image processing. By contrast with inkjet printing, embroidery constitutes an invasion of the material, and the translation of the picture into the thread is complex. Derived from the vast archives that cover the history of embroidery, the available stitching repertoire has been deliberately disguised, to give the images their digital expression.
Comments of the nominators
As well as the fact of the design’s having been developed with digital tools, the conception of this collection-related design study creates an innovative bridge between the Fashioner and the manufacturer.
